Job summary

NHC HealthCare Lexington in West Columbia, SC is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to keep our facility safe, comfortable, and well‑maintained for patients, residents, and staff. This hands‑on role covers indoor and outdoor work and a variety of projects in a healthcare setting.

You’ll inspect and repair building systems, perform groundskeeping and custodial duties, and participate in rotating on‑call weekends to respond to maintenance emergencies.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and understand local codes and safety regulations.
• Strong knowledge of maintenance supplies, tools, and equipment and their safe usage.
• Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, and climb; capable of heavy lifting.
• Willingness to work indoors and outdoors in all weather.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, care for, maintain, and repair facility property, grounds, and equipment.
• Assist in planning and executing repair, maintenance, and new installation/construction projects.
• Perform routine groundskeeping and heavy custodial duties.
• Monitor facility systems, ensuring everything functions safely and efficiently.
• Participate in rotating on-call weekend schedule and respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls.
