Job summary

Crothall Healthcare, a Compass Healthcare company, seeks a Facilities Maintenance Supervisor for the VCU Ambulatory Surgery Center on the first shift (7am–4pm, M-F, with occasional weekends). You will lead the maintenance department under the Director and/or Assistant Director, applying knowledge of plant operations and regulatory codes to ensure safe, efficient facilities management.

Qualifications

• Previous supervisory experience, preferably in healthcare.
• Knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) systems.
• Experience with computerized work order system preferred.
• Ability to meet the needs of the facility and make sound decisions, sometimes under stress.
• Excellent interpersonal skills both written and verbal.
• Proficient in Windows based office software including Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes and controls activities of maintenance department to keep staff engaged in maintaining, repairing, and renovating facilities.
• Maintains flow and quality of work to assure timely completion of assigned workload and adherence to standards of quality control.
• Maintains adequate inventory of materials, equipment, and supplies and initiates requisitions as needed.
• In the absence of the Director and Assistant Director, assumes full responsibilities of the department, shares weekend duties with the other managers in the department.
• Monitors and inspects employee work performance to assure performance standards are maintained through use of computer reports.
• Orients and trains new employees and provides continuing guidance and on-the-job training to all assigned personnel.
• Prepares performance evaluations for assigned personnel.
• Monitors and coordinates a variety of preventative maintenance and building and property repair and improvement projects performed by vendors and contractors, inspects completed work and approves requests for payment regarding same.
• Serves as a member of the facility's fire response team.
