Job summary

Meridian Health Services is seeking a Lead Facilities-Grounds Technician to provide maintenance for River Bend Hospital facilities in West Lafayette, Indiana. The role is on-site, Monday–Friday 7am–3:30pm with an on‑call rotation. You will support safety, repairs, and preventative maintenance across buildings and grounds.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or equivalent and may have ASHE certification or related trade licenses. Prior behavioral health hospital experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience in a behavioral health hospital setting preferred.
• Completion of formal technical training in a related field preferred.
• ASHE Certified Health Care Worker certification also preferred.
• Other certifications may include HVAC, EPA, ASE, CFC, CDL, I&C or other trade‑specific licenses preferred.
• Valid driver’s license, a driving record meeting Meridian's driving policy, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and prioritize work orders; coordinate with Facilities Director and manage external contractors.
• Train other maintenance staff on systems, procedures and policies.
• Maintain records of maintenance activities, safety inspections and equipment servicing.
• Respond to maintenance and custodial requests.
• Grounds keeping: mowing, trimming, weeding, and general upkeep of grounds and exterior facilities.
• Perform emergency repairs and on-call duties as needed.
• Assist with preventative maintenance for all facilities, vehicles, and equipment.
• Inspect buildings, roofs, exteriors, and common areas regularly.
• Repair and maintain electrical circuits, plumbing fixtures, and carpentry tasks.
