Job summary

Responsibilities

• Complete daily occupied and discharge/transfer cleaning and disinfection of patient care areas, equipment, and common areas.
• Demonstrate knowledge of healthcare cleaning and disinfection principles and requirements.
• Use and handle cleaning chemicals and equipment safely in a healthcare setting.
• Adhere to safety, risk management and infection prevention guidelines; promote a culture of safety.
• Participate in departmental performance improvement initiatives focusing on patient experience and cleanliness metrics.
• Maintain cleaning carts, supplies, and equipment as per Standard Work.
• Remove waste and transport to appropriate disposal areas following proper waste streams.
• Follow infection prevention practices including hand hygiene, PPE, and isolation precautions.
• Respect patient privacy (HIPAA) and uphold confidentiality.
• Collaborate with the care team to meet facility needs such as room setup and corridor maintenance.
• Mentor new Environmental Services Tech I staff as needed.
