Job summary

Merit Health Natchez is seeking an Environmental Services Worker II to clean, sanitize, and maintain hospital facilities, ensuring a safe, welcoming environment for patients and staff.

Responsibilities include floor care, waste and linen handling, spill cleanup, room sanitation, and reporting maintenance needs to supervisors. 1-3 years of environmental services experience is preferred; strong knowledge of infection control and safety procedures is required.

Qualifications

• Experience in environmental services, housekeeping, custodial work, or hospital facility maintenance preferred
• Knowledge of standard cleaning procedures, chemicals, and floor care techniques
• Ability to follow infection control standards and safety procedures

Responsibilities

• Perform floor care: sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, waxing, and shampooing
• Collect and dispose of waste, including hazardous materials, per policy
• Handle soiled linens and replace with clean bags
• Sanitize patient rooms, restrooms, hallways, offices, and common areas
• Respond to spills and perform disinfection
• Move furniture and equipment for cleaning or relocations
• Monitor supply usage and maintain safe storage
• Communicate maintenance needs to supervisor promptly
• Maintain cleaning logs and document completed tasks
• Perform other duties and maintain regular attendance
• Comply with all policies and standards
