Job summary

MedStar Montgomery Medical Center, part of MedStar Health, seeks an experienced Emergency Management and Life Safety leader to oversee planning, drills, and compliance across the hospital. The role collaborates with facilities, education, and external agencies to protect patients and staff.

The position requires 5–7 years in EM/LS, NFPA and Joint Commission knowledge, and CHSP certification within 1 year. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• 5-7 years knowledge of Joint Commission Physical Environment and EM standards.
• 5-7 years knowledge of project management.
• 5-7 years FEMA IC 100/200/300/400/700 required.
• 5-7 years knowledge of NFPA codes.
• Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP) within 1 year required.

Responsibilities

• Review and maintain the Emergency Operations Plan annually and coordinate related training.
• Lead hospital-wide exercises and ensure life safety compliance with regulations.
• Serve as liaison with local fire departments and Fire Marshals’ Office.
• Oversee life safety inspections, drills, and maintenance of safety systems.
• Support risk management and incident investigations as needed.
