Job summary

Highmark Health seeks a Summer 2027 Data Science Research & Development (DSRD) Graduate Internship in San Francisco to apply advanced data science, ML/AI, and software engineering to healthcare challenges. You will collaborate with researchers, data scientists, ML engineers, and software developers on innovative solutions using clinical and insurance data.

The program offers four research tracks: Knowledge Graphs, Medical Imaging, Predictive Modeling, and AI Applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Pursuit of a graduate degree (full or part-time).
• Currently pursuing a Master’s or Ph.D. in CS, Biomedical Informatics, Data Science, EE, or related quantitative discipline.
• Strong programming experience in Python.
• Experience with data science libraries such as NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-learn, PyTorch, and/or TensorFlow.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases.

Responsibilities

• Communicate effectively with colleagues and stakeholders on analytics projects.
• Under supervision, deliver professional data science services aligned to business objectives.
• Participate in collaborative projects to develop analytical solutions.
• Assist in planning and implementing unit projects and studies.
• Conduct research and reporting with actionable recommendations.
• Engage in related studies and enrichment activities as needed.
