Job summary

Highmark Health is offering the Summer 2027 Data Science Research & Development (DSRD) Graduate Internship to highly motivated graduate students. You will apply advanced data science, machine learning, and software engineering to solve clinical and healthcare challenges.

You will collaborate with researchers, data scientists, ML engineers, and software developers across four tracks—Knowledge Graphs, Medical Imaging, Predictive Modeling, and AI Applications—to build innovative analytics and AI

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree is required or pursuing graduate study.
Pursuit of a graduate degree is expected for consideration.
Master’s or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Biomedical Informatics, Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Applied Mathematics or related quantitative field is preferred.
Proficiency in Python and modern data science libraries is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
Under supervision, contribute to day‑to‑day objectives and learn from senior personnel.
Participate in projects and programs to develop professional skills.
Assist in planning and implementing unit projects within area of expertise.
Conduct research and prepare reports with actionable recommendations.
Engage in related training and enrichment programs as appropriate.
Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.
