Job summary

Tempus AI is seeking a Data Architect to design the backbone of a high-scale, multi-modal healthcare data ecosystem. You will architect data environments that serve hospitals, uniting EHR, genomics, and imaging data for real-time AI-driven insights.

You will own ERDs, data dictionaries, and APIs across Relational, NoSQL, and vector stores, ensure data quality and lineage under HIPAA, and enable agent-ready workflows across federated networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 7+ years in data architecture in healthcare or life sciences.
• Expert-level knowledge of 3NF, Star Schema, and Data Vault 2.0.
• Advanced SQL and Python for analytics and profiling.
• Familiarity with HL7, FHIR, and Epic/Cerner data structures.

Responsibilities

• Multi-Modal Architecture: design an enterprise data model for clinical EHR, genomics, and imaging.
• Scale for Hospital Networks: ensure multi-tenancy, high availability, and performance across hybrid clouds.
• Enable Agentic Workflows: optimize data access patterns for AI agents to query and reason over data.
• Schema & API Ownership: maintain ERDs, data dictionaries, and API specs across technologies.
• Data Quality & Traceability: monitor data quality and lineage with source-system traceability.
• Technical Advocacy: educate teams on data modeling standards and HIPAA governance.
