Job summary

Tempus AI is seeking a Data Architect to design a scalable, multi-modal healthcare data ecosystem. You will craft an enterprise data model integrating EHR, genomics, and imaging, and enable agent-ready data access across federated hospitals in hybrid cloud environments.

You will lead ERD and API ownership, ensure data quality and traceability, and guide teams on data modeling standards within HIPAA rules. This role emphasizes cross-disciplinary collaboration and architectural excellence.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or related field.
• 7+ years in data architecture or enterprise modeling in healthcare or life sciences.
• Expert-level knowledge of 3NF, Dimensional (Star Schema), and Data Vault 2.0 modeling.
• Advanced SQL and Python for data profiling and debugging.
• Experience with HL7, FHIR, Epic/Cerner data structures and noSQL/RDBMS trade-offs.
• Familiarity with Master Data Management (MDM) solutions and data governance.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and management of an enterprise data model integrating clinical EHRs, genomics, and imaging.
• Scale data solutions across federated hospital networks with multi- tenancy and high availability in hybrid cloud environments.
• Design data access patterns and metadata layers for AI agents to autonomously query and reason over data.
• Own ERDs, data dictionaries, and API specifications across Relational, NoSQL, and Vector DBs.
• Implement data quality and lineage monitoring with strict source-system traceability.
• Educate engineering and clinical teams on data modeling standards and HIPAA governance.
