Job summary

Tempus AI is seeking a Data Architect to design the backbone of a high-scale, multi-modal healthcare data ecosystem, integrating structured EHR, genomics, and imaging to deliver real-time, actionable insights for clinicians. You will lead enterprise data modeling, enable agent-ready data fabrics across federated hospital networks, and ensure HIPAA-compliant governance in hybrid cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Health Informatics, or a related field.
• 7+ years in data architecture or enterprise modeling, healthcare domain.
• Expert-level knowledge of 3NF, Dimensional (Star Schema), and Data Vault 2.0 modeling techniques.
• Advanced SQL & Python for analytics and data profiling.
• Experience with RDBMS, MPP, and NoSQL; Master Data Management (MDM).
• Interoperability standards HL7 and FHIR; Epic/Cerner data structures.
• Proficiency with ER/DI drawings and data modeling tools (Erwin, Vertabelo, Lucidchart).

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and management of an enterprise data model integrating EHR, genomics, and imaging.
• Architect data solutions to scale across federated hospital networks with multi-tenancy and high availability.
• Design access patterns and metadata layers for AI agents to query and reason over diverse datasets.
• Own ERDs, data dictionaries, and API specifications across Relational, NoSQL, and Vector Databases.
• Implement automated data quality and lineage with traceability to source systems.
• Educate engineering and clinical teams on data modeling standards and HIPAA compliance.
