Job summary

Actalent in Lexington, KY seeks a Safety Specialist to support a major cancer center construction project. You will work with the Safety Manager, leadership, subcontractors, and field personnel to foster a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with safety requirements.

You will conduct field inspections, audits, observations, training, and incident investigations, while handling safety documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping.

Qualifications

• CHST Certification, typically supported by 4+ years of experience in safety roles.
• Strong construction safety experience in active construction environments.
• Experience delivering safety training to construction teams and subcontractors.
• Experience in incident investigations, including reporting and follow-up.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and standards relevant to construction projects.

Responsibilities

• Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture across the project site with leadership and subcontractors.
• Conduct regular field safety inspections and audits to identify hazards and improve safety performance.
• Perform safety observations in the field and communicate corrective actions to stakeholders.
• Lead or support incident investigations, gather facts, and recommend corrective actions.
• Deliver safety training to project staff and subcontractors on requirements and procedures.
• Maintain safety documentation, reports, and training records.
• Assist with safety reporting to project leadership, summarizing trends and actions.
• Collaborate with construction teams to plan work with safety in mind in healthcare environments.
• Ensure adherence to construction safety standards across all project phases.
• Coordinate with subcontractors to verify safety compliance.
