Job summary

Cook County Health seeks a Compliance Officer to lead and evolve the organization’s comprehensive compliance program, including policy development, training, and internal investigations across departments. The role ensures adherence to regulatory and accreditation standards and guides system-wide corrective actions.

The position requires strong leadership, analytical acumen, and experience coordinating cross-functional teams to implement effective compliance initiatives.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree or higher in a related field.
• Three years of healthcare analysis and investigations.
• Leadership competencies: planning, organizing, problem solving, informing, consulting, supporting.
• Knowledge of coding/utilization, billing, medical records, review/analysis, and documentation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the system-wide compliance program development and maintenance.
• Collaborate with operational leadership to promote compliance ownership.
• Synchronize materials and messaging for a uniform compliance approach.
• Deliver and oversee compliance training for employees, physicians, volunteers, students, vendors, and consultants.
• Assess and update compliance policies and procedures; reflect regulatory changes.
• Develop and coordinate compliance projects with system entities as outlined in annual plan.
• Conduct system-wide interviews to validate policy adherence and regulatory compliance.
• Prepare narrative process descriptions to evaluate strengths and weaknesses of the compliance system.
• Produce compliance reports for executive leadership and board committees.
• Investigate and follow up on all compliance concerns with designated teams.
• Maintain confidentiality of departmental operations.
