Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking a Supervisor Coding to oversee the coding department for inpatients, hospital outpatients, and ambulatory visits. The role supervises staff performing abstracting, ensures quality and timeliness, and guides productivity and coverage at month/year end.

Responsibilities include policy implementation and process improvements to maximize reimbursement while maintaining patient satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree; will consider an additional two years of certified coding experience in lieu of degree.
• Six years of experience in applicable coding operations; leadership potential encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily department operations ensuring quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
• Support staffing decisions, coaching, and performance evaluations.
• Monitor coding workflows and performance metrics across inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory settings.
• Provide training and education on CPT/ICD-10 coding guidelines and reimbursement processes.
• Lead process improvements to maximize reimbursement while complying with policies.
