Job summary

Trinity Health in Michigan is seeking a Chaplain to provide in-person spiritual care to patients, families, and staff on multiple floors during the evening shift (11:30 a.m. – 7:30 p.m.) with 2-3 Sunday shifts per month. The role reports to the Manager of Spiritual Care and integrates with the care team.

The Chaplain will assess spiritual distress, offer crisis intervention, and coordinate with faith leaders to honor diverse beliefs while documenting care in the electronic medical record.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in theology, religion, spiritual care or spirituality.
• One to three years of Spiritual Care experience, including CPE training.
• Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) strongly preferred via APC, CASC, NACC, or NAJC.

Responsibilities

• Provides Spiritual Care within the local ministry to patients, families, and colleagues.
• Addresses spiritual distress, grief support, crisis intervention, and life-change support.
• Documents assessments, interventions and outcomes in the EMR and plans of care.
• Collaborates with the Spiritual Care Manager to improve department processes and measure effectiveness.
• Supports interfaith and faith-based collaborations and sacred space maintenance.
