Job summary

Trinity Health’s MercyOne NIA Medical Center is seeking a Part-Time Spiritual Care professional for a Day Shift (8 hours). The role focuses on addressing spiritual distress, grief support, crisis intervention, and supporting patients, families, and staff as part of an integrated healthcare team.

The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in Theology, Religion, Spiritual Care or related field and 1–3 years of spiritual care experience, with Board Certification (BCC) strongly preferred.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Theology, Religion, Spiritual Care or Spirituality, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• One (1) to three (3) years of Spiritual Care experience, including CPE training, is required.
• Board Certified Chaplain (BCC) strongly preferred via APC, CASC, NACC, and NAJC with completion of required master’s degree and 4 ACPE accredited units.

Responsibilities

• Provides Spiritual Care within the local ministry and healthcare team.
• Addresses spiritual distress, grief support, crisis intervention, and support during life changes.
• Develops and participates in programs to promote spiritual care and inclusion of faith leaders in care.
• Documents relevant assessments and interventions in the medical record.
• Integrates Spiritual Care as a clinical member of the inter-professional team.
