Job summary

Encompass Health Corporation in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Design & Construction Planning Manager to lead planning and development of capital construction and renovation projects across our national healthcare network.

You will work closely with Real Estate, Development, Operations, Preconstruction, architects, engineers, and contractors to define scope, budgets and schedules, ensuring feasible and financing-ready plans for multiple high-value projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, design, facilities management or related field is preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in construction project management, capital project planning, facilities planning or related.
• Experience managing construction, renovation, expansion or capital improvement projects is preferred.
• Experience developing project scopes, budgets, schedules and conceptual cost estimates is preferred.
• Strong project management, analytical, communication and presentation skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning and development of capital construction and renovation projects from concept through approval.
• Develop project scope, preliminary budgets, schedules and conceptual solutions.
• Partner with Real Estate and Development to support new market growth and de novo hospital development.
• Evaluate potential project sites and conduct site feasibility and due diligence.
• Coordinate site diligence and evaluate civil, geotechnical, environmental, survey reports.
• Work with consultants to evaluate feasibility and identify optimal capital investment solutions.
• Collaborate with Preconstruction to develop conceptual cost estimates and budgets.
• Prepare funding approval packages detailing scope, schedule, budget, and capital requirements.
• Manage design consultants, vendors and external partners during planning.
• Monitor project schedules, fees, invoices and documentation to align with budgets.
