Job summary

Children's Institute in California is seeking a Billing Clerk to support the billing team with accurate claims processing and up-to-date client records.

You will perform data entry, document uploads, eligibility verification, and basic billing tasks across programs, maintaining data in the EHR and resolving simple issues that may delay billing. A fast-paced environment requires attention to detail and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• /Education & Experience: High school diploma or GED required. Associate’s degree in business, health administration, or related field preferred.
• /Experience: Minimum of one (1) year experience in billing, eligibility, medical office administration, or related field preferred.
• /Experience: Experience with Electronic Health Records or billing software preferred.

Responsibilities

• Uploads billing-related documentation into the EHR and verifies completeness and accuracy.
• Enters and updates client demographic, service, and insurance information in the EHR or billing systems.
• Supports eligibility verification processes by assisting with reports or similar tools.
• Prepares basic billing forms and checklists for review by Billing Coordinators.
• Follows up on data clean-up tasks (e.g., missing authorizations, benefit updates).
• Maintains digital records to support audit readiness and compliance requirements.
• Responds to routine inquiries from program staff related to client records, forms, or billing status.
