Job summary

Alamance County Government is seeking a billing clerk to maximize revenue for the Health Department by ensuring accurate, correctly coded, and timely medical billing while delivering excellent customer service to clients about services and financial responsibility.

The role focuses on immunization, child health, STI, and refugee billing, with additional duties in LabCorp invoicing and overall program billing knowledge. Strong clerical skills and confidentiality are essential.

Qualifications

• Two years of clerical office experience, preferably in a medical setting.
• Knowledge of billing, coding, and financial responsibility.
• Ability to balance patient accounts and perform calculations.

Responsibilities

• Review and prepare encounters for electronic and/or paper filing.
• Maintain customers in the Debt Setoff Program.
• Work payment plans, take payments and educate on financial responsibilities.
• Verify insurance and follow up on denied claims.
• Review LabCorp invoices for Medicaid billing accuracy.
• Follow up on LabCorp third party billing letters.
• Bill for immunization, child health, STI and refugee programs; know all general program billing.
• Handle Medical Nutrition Therapy Billing.
