• High School Diploma/GED is required.
• Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare reimbursement.
• Understands medical terminology.
• Familiarity with EOB’s and RA’s.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, working knowledge of Excel required.
• Excellent Customer Service.
• Good written and verbal communication skills required.
• Must be able to multi-task.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Bilingual – English/Spanish, preferred.
• Previous healthcare and hospital experience preferred.
• Ability to use the internet to obtain information from Third Party Payers or other sources is required.
• Requires working with minimal to moderate interruptions.
• Occasional evening or weekend work may be required.

Responsibilities

• Promotes the facility mission, vision and values by effectively communicating them to others.
• Posting all charges within allowed time frame following HIPAA regulations and data entry procedures.
• Daily Deposit Summary Report Validation (needs management signature).
• Daily reconciliation per batch to match total amounts collected.
• Follow Self-Pay reconciliation process.
• Follow patient eligibility department protocol.
• Ensure all mandatory segments are included in billing software for clean claims.
• Update insurance information from cards provided.
• Confirm CPT codes match orders and report variations.
• Run encoders and verify modifiers and LCDs as needed.
• Follow department email protocol.
• Meet daily production requirements.
• Submit end-of-day reports and complete daily tasks.
• Complete monthly reconciliation.
• Cross-train in revenue cycle areas.
• Assist with postings payments and remits.
• Research credit balances for refunds due to overpayments.
• Prepare refund worksheets and issue refund letters to third party payers and patients.
• Transfer patient credit balances per policy.
• Documents notes for information requests.
• Access medical records and other sources as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
