Job summary

Charta Health in San Francisco is seeking a Support Engineer to be the first technical line of defense behind our customer-facing team. When a client reports issues, you reproduce, trace to root cause, and propose fixes for immediate resolution.

You own triage, collaborate with Engineering, and hand off clear summaries to Technical Success Managers. You will build playbooks and knowledge to help prevent repeat incidents and empower the team.

Qualifications

• Reading code (Python and/or TypeScript), writing SQL and inspecting logs and data pipelines.
• Debugging mindset and ownership of problems with evidence-based reasoning.
• Ability to write clear, reproducible tickets with root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Investigate and diagnose: reproduce issues, query data, read logs, trace root cause.
• Triage with judgment: classify incidents and route to the right team.
• Resolve What You Can (Tier 1): fix configs, data issues, and setup; answer questions with evidence.
• Propose Fixes (Tier 2): outline code-level fixes and draft for engineering review.
• Hand Off Cleanly to the Customer Team: provide clear summaries and timelines.
• Own the Loop Internally: track issues to resolution and verify fixes in production.
• Build the Knowledge Base: turn investigations into runbooks and triage guides.
• Spot Patterns: surface recurring defects and improve monitoring and tooling.
