Job summary

The Covenant Health system is seeking a Health Unit Coordinator, Admitting and Registration for Peninsula Behavioral Health in Louisville, KY. This PRN position supports nursing and clinical staff with unit coordination, patient records, and admissions processes in a busy hospital unit.

Responsibilities include phone reception, order transcription, chart maintenance, and ensuring accurate MAR/Kardex updates. The role requires flexibility in hours and a patient-focused, team-oriented approach.

Qualifications

• None specified; will accept any combination of formal education and/or prior work experience sufficient to demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and ability needed to perform the essential tasks of the job, typically such as would be equivalent to a high school diploma or GED. Preference may be given to individuals possessing a HS diploma or GED.
• Prior healthcare experience preferred. Completion of Health Unit Coordinator Curriculum within two weeks of hire required. CPOE training and on-the-job training with an experienced HUC preferred.

Responsibilities

• Answers phones, takes and relays messages in a timely and accurate manner.
• Transcribes and processes all orders.
• Prioritizes transcription, checks all charts immediately for stat orders and transcribes them first.
• Notifies nursing staff of stat and now orders.
• Transfers all new orders to MAR and Kardex.
• Keeps unit neat and orderly.
