Job summary

Parkwest Medical Center, part of Covenant Health, seeks a Health Unit Coordinator Senior in Behavioral Health to manage clerical duties, patient records, and coordination of admissions, transfers, and discharges. Requirements include CNA/MA/EMT credentials or Covenant Health HUC I/PCA experience with training, plus adherence to infection control and safety standards.

Qualifications

• Must be CNA, MA, or EMT at time of hire.
• Or six months of Covenant Health HUC I, PCA, CNA, MA, or EMT experience with the training protocol.

Responsibilities

• Performs clerical duties related to admissions, discharge, transfer, and death.
• Ensures STAT orders are brought to licensed nursing personnel.
• Transcribes physician orders accurately and notifies consults as ordered.
• Requisitions supplies, maintains unit stock and equipment inventories.
• Answers phones/intercoms and relays messages promptly to patients.
• Assists physicians in obtaining reports from lab, radiology, etc.
• Schedules tests, procedures, and appointments for patients.
• Organizes patient charts and replenishes forms as needed.
• Follows infection control policies and safety standards.
• Acts as preceptor to HUC I and meets Covenant training requirements.
• Manages patient records and discharge disposition in EMR.
