Job summary

Substitute Health paraeducator role at Sylvania supports the Licensed School Nurse by delivering school health care and managing basic health services during the school day.

You will monitor student health, perform first aid and emergency care, administer medications as directed, conduct screenings, and coordinate with health staff to ensure safe, compliant care for students with health needs. This on-site position requires lifting up to 40 pounds and maintaining attendance.

Qualifications

• Experience in EMT/EMS, CMA, LPN or RN required.
• Proof of CPR/AED certifications or enrollment in a course upon hire.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication.
• Ability to work with special needs students and staff.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and maintain regular attendance.

Responsibilities

• Monitor health status of students and perform first aid and emergency care.
• Administer medication and/or health care treatments as directed.
• Follow care plans to administer medications and triage needs.
• Conduct vision and hearing screenings and coordinate referrals.
• Maintain immunization records and adhere to exclusion guidelines.
• Order and stock first aid and health care supplies.
• Support staff health and assist with work-related injuries.
• Collaborate with Licensed School Nurse to identify students needing health education.
