- The district is seeking a compassionate, dependable, and flexible Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to provide health and medical support to students in the absence of one of the district's LPNs.
- The LPN will work under the direction and delegation of a Licensed School Nurse and collaborate with school staff, families, and healthcare providers to help students safely access their educational programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to students according to individualized healthcare plans, emergency care plans, physician orders, and district procedures.
- Administer medications and perform authorized nursing procedures under the direction and delegation of a Licensed School Nurse.
- Support students with chronic, acute, or complex health conditions during the school day.
- Monitor students for changes in health status and promptly communicate concerns to the Licensed School Nurse and other appropriate personnel.
- Respond to student illnesses, injuries, and medical emergencies.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential health documentation.
- Assist with implementing student health plans and emergency response procedures.
- Follow infection-control practices, medication procedures, emergency protocols, and all applicable district policies.
- Perform other health-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Current Minnesota license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in good standing.
- Ability to provide nursing care to children and adolescents with a range of health and medical needs.
- Ability to respond calmly and appropriately during medical emergencies.
- Strong communication, organization, documentation, and collaboration skills.
- Ability to maintain student confidentiality.
Physical Requirements
The employee must be able to perform the essential functions of the position, including responding quickly to student health needs; standing, walking, bending, and lifting; assisting with student positioning or mobility when required; and safely performing assigned nursing procedures.
