Responsibilities
- Boot up and shut down simulators, prepare and break down task trainers, simulation rooms and other equipment/props for simulation or skills lab sessions.
- Operate various computers and technical simulation equipment, including virtual reality software.
- Control simulator software to model the simulator’s physiological response to instructor and/or scenario specifications.
- Operate and maintain audio‑visual and debriefing systems during simulations.
- Reset rooms between sessions (restock and replenish supplies as needed).
- Maintain current knowledge of simulation/lab equipment and operation manuals.
- Clean equipment as needed (manikin, task trainers).
- Assist in the development and demonstration of instructional best practices for the use of manikins and equipment to elevate student and faculty simulation experiences.
- Provide technical support for task trainers and multimedia peripherals (vital‑sign monitors, IV pumps, feeding pumps, beds/examination tables, headwalls, patient monitors, and other healthcare equipment).
- Provide theatrical production (costuming and moulage) for simulation scenarios as requested.
- Provide technical assistance and support to students, faculty, and staff in using simulation and skills‑lab equipment and software.
- Enforce the safety and security of the simulation and skills labs according to established procedures, policies, and laws.
- Ensure simulations and skills laboratories are maintained in a clean, safe, and orderly condition.
- Work with students during their sessions in HSSC.
- Facilitate simulation‑based experiences and activities in collaboration with nursing faculty.
- Assist with laboratory setup and cleanup, manage lab supplies, and provide overall student and faculty lab support.
- Collaborate with nursing faculty to provide consistent and relevant student learning experiences to meet course objectives.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Minimum Acceptable Education & Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or Computer Science.
- Organizational skills and ability to follow directions.
- Demonstrated interest, ability, and/or experience promoting cultural competency, universal accessibility, and/or diversity.
- Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
- Flexible and able to adapt to a dynamic environment based on changing policies, procedures, and clinical needs.
- Ability to balance multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Previous experience in healthcare (required license/certification).
- Understanding of nursing concepts and procedures.
- Effective communication and teamwork with faculty, staff, and students.
- Ability to provide constructive feedback during simulations.
- Adaptability to respond to unexpected changes in simulation scenarios.
- Willingness to learn new technologies and methods.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–2 years of simulation experience in an educational institution or equivalent setting.
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE).
Compensation: $35.10 per hour.
