Job summary

Surry Community College seeks a Health Science Advisor to provide comprehensive academic advising and student support for pre- and current health science students. The role acts as a liaison among students, faculty, healthcare employers, and community partners to align pathways with workforce needs.

Based in Student Services with travel to hospitals, high schools, and SCC campuses, the advisor reports to the Associate Dean of Student Services and supports recruitment, onboarding, and program

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in health science, student development, counseling, human services, education, or related field.
Master’s degree in education or a related academic field preferred.

Responsibilities

Serve as Student Success Advisor for health science students and guide them through program requirements.
Coordinate with faculty, healthcare employers, and community partners to align pathways with industry needs.
Track student progress and identify at-risk students to provide timely interventions.
Assist with recruitment events and open houses for health science programs.
Facilitate internships, apprenticeships, and job placement opportunities with local healthcare partners.
