Savannah Technical College is seeking a 12-month full-time faculty member to teach Allied Health Core and Nurse Aide/ Patient Care courses. The faculty will provide theory and practical instruction to a level sufficient for students to develop the skills necessary to progress into a post-secondary Health Science program or become employed in their chosen Health Science profession. The position also requires the supervision of students during patient care in a clinical setting. Responsibilities are based at the Savannah Campus but will require travel to any Savannah Technical College Campus or clinical site within the college's service area and flexibility is required to teach day, evening, and weekend classes.
Associate's degree in a Health Care related field from an accredited post-secondary institution. Unencumbered, Georgia Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or Registered Nurse (RN). Current certification in Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and First Aid.
Teaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) – four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employee frequently lifts/carries objects that weigh 10 lbs. or less. Clinical responsibilities are typically performed in a hospital, long term care facility, or other medical facilities and require that the employee stand/or walk for seven (7) – eight (8) hours: bend, twist, push/and or pull for three (3) – four ( 4) hours; and occasionally lift 50 lbs. to 75 lbs. per rotation. The exposure to infectious diseases, gas, or fumes is possible during clinical rotations.
Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave, and the State of Georgia Flexible Benefits package.
