The adjunct faculty member will provide theory and/or practical instruction to a level sufficient for students to develop the skills necessary to become employed in the healthcare profession. The position also requires the supervision of students during patient care.Location : Savannah, Liberty, EffinghamResponsibilities:Instructs, manages, and supervises individuals and groups in classrooms, laboratories, and clinicals using appropriate teaching methods.Prepare lesson plans for classroom instruction for occupational coursesDevelop, manage, and teach classes, delivering instruction both individually and as a member of a teamDevelop and coordinate curriculum; conduct assessments of all courses taught in the department as requestedComplete reports and request for information from internal and external departments and agenciesEnsure compliance with accreditation standards of regional and national accrediting agenciesCollaborate with colleagues on common curriculum areasMaintain knowledge of current trends and development in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars, and conferencesFollow policies/procedures of Savannah Technical College, to include standards for student-faculty professional relationships/interactionCommunicate professionally and in a timely manner with college employees, students, community partners, and visitorsPerform other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsRegistered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse with a current active Georgia Nursing License in good standing with the Georgia Board of Nursing with one year of nursing experience. License cannot have the following status codes: probation, suspended, expired, lapsed, inactive, pending, renewal pending, revoked, or surrendered.Minimum two (2) years of nursing experience in health care within the preceding five (5) years.Must be flexible to teach day, or evening classes, or online coursesPossess current certification in cardiopulmonary resuscitationPossess valid driver's license and proof of insurabilityPreferred QualificationsExperience teaching adults and/or supervising students in a clinical settingBachelor's degree or higher in nursing or in a health care related field from an accredited, post-secondary institutionAmerican Heart Association BLS and Heartsaver InstructorPhysical DemandsTeaching responsibilities are typically performed in a classroom/lab environment with the employee intermittently sitting, standing, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling for three (3) - four (4) continuous hours at a time. The employee frequently lifts/carries objects that weigh 10 lbs. or less. Clinical responsibilities are typically performed in a hospital, long term care facility, or other medical facilities and require that the employee stand/or walk for ten (10) - twelve (12) hours: bend, twist, push/and or pull for three (3) - four ( 4) hours; and occasionally lift 50 lbs. to 75 lbs. per rotation.
