Job summary

Grain & Protein Technologies seeks a Health & Safety Intern for the Summer 2027 program, based at our Assumption, IL office. You will work on-site full-time, 40 hours per week, contributing to safety programs, audits, and training development.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an environmental, health and safety program and possess strong communication skills, Excel/Word/PowerPoint proficiency, and reliable transportation to commute daily.

Job description

We are seeking a highly talented Health & Safety Intern to join our EHS team at our Assumption, Illinois headquarters for the Summer of 2027.

This is a paid, full-time internship during the summer. Students are required to work 40 hours per week onsite at our office in Assumption from tentatively Wednesday, May 26^th through Friday, July 30^th (dependent upon summer housing dates, could start earlier and/or end later).

Your Impact

• Develop and implement various written Health and Safety programs
• Assist in ergonomic assessments and improvements
• Conduct regulatory safety and environmental audits
• Review and develop specific training programs
• Conduct risk assessments, job hazard analyses and other evaluations
• Assist with conducting new employee safety orientation and facility tours

Your Experience and Qualifications

• Enrollment in a degree program on environmental, health and safety or related field
• Must be registered as a full-time student
• Must be able to commute to the work location on a daily basis
• Exceptional oral and written communication skills
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Power Point
• Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
• Preferably have completed one or more internships and/or have working experience (e.g. part time job)
• Reliable transportation to and from the internship location

Your Compensation and Benefits

Expected hourly wage for this role will be $20 – 22 / hour. This is dependent upon year in school.

Benefits will include complimentary housing located at The Woods housing complex at Millikin University in Decatur, IL, approximately 30 minutes from the internship location.
