Job summary

Grain & Protein Technologies in Assumption, IL is seeking an IT Desktop Support Intern to join the IT team and provide second-line support for incidents and catalog requests. The internship is paid and full-time for the summer of 2027, with 40 hours per week onsite at our Assumption office, running from May 26th to July 30th.

You will assist with setup of hardware, software installations, and basic IT issues, learning to support business users while maintaining security policies and documented

Job description

GSI is looking for an IT Desktop Support Intern to join our IT team at our Grain & Protein headquarters in Assumption, IL. The IT Desktop Support Intern position is responsible for working in the Desktop Team to provide effective second line IT Support for IT-related Incidents and Catalog Requests. This role provides support for all users of IT Computer Systems. It involves handling hardware, computer and mobile devices, for new joiners and leavers and installing software. We are looking for someone who wants to learn the basics in IT Desktop Support.

This is a paid, full-time internship during the summer of 2027. Students are required to work 40 hours per week onsite at our office in Assumption from Wednesday, May 26th through Friday, July 30th (dependent upon summer housing dates, could start earlier and/or end later).

Your Impact

This role is intended to assist the IT Desktop Support Team that all business users are able to access the appropriate IT systems and services in line with agreed Service Levels and IT security policies. It provides a point of contact for all business users to support requests for IT services.

• Tasks include providing excellent customer service to AGCO business users by:
• Supporting Incident and Request tickets assigned to the Desktop Team in ServiceNow tool
• Assisting users with basic IT issues right away
• Making sure all authorizations and approvals are in place before completing Requests
• Cooperating with colleagues to keep IT support documentation up-to-date
• Assisting local Desktop team with handling hardware related requests including setup of new PCs/laptops/monitors/etc., and handing over equipment of leavers
• Wiping the software from out of warranty PC's and prepare them for collection by Third Party Company
• Installation of End Point Security software
• Assist in handling basic IT-related issues like anti-virus software installation, local admin rights, problems with Windows operating system, Microsoft products, standard IT hardware

Your Experience and Qualifications

• Some knowledge of PC skills including Windows and Microsoft Office products
• Good communication and Customer Service skills
• Good decision-making skills
• Some experience with connecting PCs/laptops/monitors/keyboards, etc.
• Some experience with installation of IT software

Your Compensation and Benefits

Expected hourly wage for this role will be $20 – 22 / hour. This is dependent upon year in school.

Benefits will include complimentary housing located at The Woods housing complex at Millikin University in Decatur, IL, for students that do not live locally.
