How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The HSE Specialist III role is part of the Air Liquide North America (NAM) HSE support services group. This position involves demonstrating HSE technical and management system competencies, providing pragmatic HSE solutions, and supporting site and regional management on HSE activities, audits, compliance, accident investigations, and external agency interactions. This is a remote field role covering facilities in the US North East, including upstate NY (Albany/Malta), MA, MI, and DC, with >50% travel.

  • Support HSE activities at assigned locations and act as a liaison between HSE and operational stakeholders.
  • Assist field locations with support from HSE personnel and support services.
  • Respond to emergencies and provide direct HSE assistance.
  • Participate in MOC reviews, HAZOP, and FMEAs.
  • Manage local Emergency Action Plans and Hazard Communication Programs.
  • Mentor site safety champions.
  • Represent Air Liquide during agency inspections (EPA, OSHA, fire department, etc.).
  • Handle external customer and regulatory contacts, addressing complex requests independently.
  • Support plant turn-around and start-up projects with HSE expertise.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and develop business cases for proposals.
  • Analyze EHS data, report trends, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Interpret and apply HSE regulations and standards.
  • Evaluate and suggest solutions to HSE problems.
  • Perform HSE assessments and audits.
  • Manage priorities, schedule, and contribute to team goals.
  • Lead and participate in teams, fostering shared HSE ownership.
  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders, sharing opinions respectfully and adapting style as needed.
  • Review contractor safety plans and provide technical mentorship to peers.
  • Review machinery and equipment plans for safety compliance.
  • Promote continuous improvement using methodologies/tools.
  • Contribute to the development of HSE standards.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in HSE or STEM field.
  • Valid employment authorization in the U.S. (no visa sponsorship needed).
  • Strong knowledge of compliance standards, risk assessment, and safety procedures (confined space, energy isolation, fall protection, process safety preferred).
  • Certifications (CSP, CIH, OHST, REM, REP, etc.) preferred.
  • 7+ years of HSE operations experience in industrial gas, energy, manufacturing, or construction. Advanced degree may substitute 3 years of experience.
  • Travel 50-75% as required.
