A leading company in the automotive industry is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety Coordinator to implement and manage HSE standards and procedures. The role requires expert knowledge in safety regulations and excellent leadership skills to drive a culture of safety and compliance across all levels of the organization. This position supports continuous improvement in safety performance and environmental protection management.

Job Responsibilities:

Implement, execute, ensure compliance with the Cosma/Magna International HSE policies and procedures, and all federal, state, and local OSHA/EPA regulations (i.e. Lockout, HazCom, Machine Safety, SARA, RCRA, etc.)
Lead the development and implementation of the HSE Annual Operating Plans and HSE Action Plans for the Division; develop and track KPI HSE Metrics for the division
Achieve annual targets rates for Lost Time, Recordable, Severity, and Environmental
Develop, implement, execute, and manage strategies to prevent workplace injuries, and environmental incidents
Demonstrate solid employee relations experience, interpersonal and verbal/written communication skills
Demonstrate professional maturity and ability to act as a change leader by influencing all levels of the organization to drive continuous improvement in safety performance and environmental protection
Conduct HSE activities such as training/auditing/assessing to ensure ongoing compliance with regulatory agency requirements, Cosma/Magna standards, and internal LMV HSE procedures
Perform risk assessments and assist in the implementation of effective physical and/ or behavioral control measures. Recognize and verify the effectiveness of in place control measures
Exercise a leadership, coordination, and communication role with the location leadership to drive continuous HSE improvement across the location
Complete root-cause analyses and develop corrective action plans to address root basic causes and management system weak-spots through the use of industry recognized cause analysis techniques (5-Why, 8-D, etc.)
Ensure compliance of all external contractors as part of the Contractor Management Program
Manage environment aspects of the work site; (e.g. waste disposal, recycling, air emission approvals, spill control, etc).
Develop, maintain, and communicate HSE procedures/work instructions/processes to applicable team members and leadership.
Identify, maintain and control all HSE records.
Lead the investigation of HSE nonconformities as appropriate and follow up on corrective/preventive actions to ensure closure.
Prepare information required for Management Review of the integrated HSE Management System and participate in the review.
Follow and adhere to requirements of current customer quality, safety and environmental management systems standards.
Participate in the approval process for new products.
Develops, implements, maintains and coordinates the health and safety management system (eg. JHSC, EPRP, PPA} for the anticipation, recognition, evaluation and control of hazards.
Manages and administers professional health and safety services, respecting confidences and advises honestly.
Coordinates external services for annual and biannual air and noise sampling.
Ensures and maintains accurate records to provide documentation and accountability in support of findings and conclusions.
Provides HSE training of personnel as it pertains to their position in the company and the health and safety management system.
Chair of JHSC; and makes recommendations as required.
Reviews investigation of accidents/incidents and follows up to ensure completion of recommendations. Cooperates in the preparation of material/evidence for use in hearings and insurance investigations.
Promotes/recommends continuous improvement suggestions including environment, people, processes and equipment/machinery
Abides by all plant health, safety and environmental rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Follows and adheres to requirements of current customer quality (TS 16949), safety (OHSAS 18001) and environmental (ISO 14001) management systems standards.
Follows and supports LMV Automotive Systems ' and Magna's operating principles.
Identify unsafe equipment operation and conditions while demonstrating knowledge of appropriate corrective action for unsafe conditions or equipment use
Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications: (These qualifications represent the minimum requirements of the position. Employees will be required to possess the ability and aptitudes to perform the duties proficiently.)
Education and/or Experience:
Post-secondary education in safety engineering or related certification
5+ years of work experience in the Health, Safety, and Environmental disciplines with proven success in the overall program management
Direct job related experience with OSHA, EPA, DNR, and DOT
Direct job related experience with HSE Management systems and their deployment
Direct job related experience in HSE auditing.
Knowledge in CFR 1910 General Industry
Practical experience managing ISO 14001, OSHA 18001, and TS16949
