Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Health and Safety Coordinator position works with plant leadership to ensure safety regulations and policies are followed at the Ohio facility. The H&S Coordinator reports to the Plant Manager and collaborates with the Director of Environmental Health and Safety. Responsibilities include implementing and overseeing training programs for new and current staff.

Shift: 8am-5pm with flexibility for 2nd shift as needed.

Primary Responsibilities include:

• Coordinate onboarding and training with HR for new employees and temporary staff
• Identify and control hazardous workplace conditions
• Coordinate removal of physical, biological, and chemical hazards
• Train employees on safety policies, procedures, and regulations
• Ensure compliance with federal and state safety regulations and maintain records
• Participate in OSHA inspections and safety measures
• Implement safety best practices and procedures
• Develop and report KPIs
• Facilitate safety training (LOTO, OSHA, Forklift, MEWP, Ammonia, Ergonomics, etc.)
• Collaborate with department leaders to ensure safety adherence
• Participate in SQF program
• Lead emergency planning and drills
• Maintain OSHA and Ammonia Awareness certifications
• Conduct risk assessments and analyze safety data
• Review activities and recommend improvements
• Lead technical training programs and develop materials
• Monitor training effectiveness and update LMS

Education and Experience:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate’s degree in Health and Safety preferred
• 2-5 years in safety programs within manufacturing
• Work safely following PPE requirements
• Effective communication and training skills
• Proficiency in MS Excel, Word, Outlook

Desired Qualifications:

• OSHA 30 Hour for General Industry
• Knowledge of lockout/tagout and confined space
• Experience with behavior-based safety and hazard abatement

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORKING CONDITIONS

This role requires physical ability to work in a production environment, including standing, walking, climbing, lifting up to 50 pounds, and exposure to environmental conditions and chemicals.
