Job summary

WITRON Group is seeking a Health & Safety Coordinator to lead safety across major automated distribution center projects in North America. The role focuses on construction safety, field oversight, and regulatory compliance within warehouse and materials handling environments.

The ideal candidate will have a safety background in construction/industrial settings, strong OSHA knowledge, and the ability to travel extensively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety or related field; equivalent experience considered.
• Experience managing safety programs in construction, industrial, manufacturing, distribution, or warehouse environments.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, and risk management practices.
• Experience supporting contractor safety management on multi-employer construction sites.
• Knowledge of forklifts, automated material handling systems, conveyors, robotics, and other warehouse equipment.
• Experience conducting safety inspections, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action management.
• Excellent communication, leadership, training, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work independently across multiple locations and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive safety leadership for construction, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and operations within automated facilities.
• Conduct field safety oversight for contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and WITRON personnel during construction and startup projects.
• Monitor compliance with OSHA regulations, site safety plans, and project safety requirements.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety programs, procedures, training initiatives, and risk mitigation.
• Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, JSAs, and training for site personnel.
• Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, injuries, and property damage; drive corrective actions.
• Serve as primary safety contact during inspections, audits, and incident response.
• Collaborate with National Safety Manager, Site Managers, Project Managers, and Operations Leaders to promote safety culture.
• Conduct safety inspections, facility audits, contractor evaluations, and compliance reviews.
• Train employees on forklift operations and other MHE safety; monitor fall protection and lockout/tagout practices.
• Perform workers' comp reviews and safety performance evaluations.
• Analyze safety metrics and trends to generate leadership reports and recommendations.

Health & Safety Coordinator

Join WITRON as a Safety Coordinator and play a critical role in ensuring safety excellence across major automated distribution center construction, installation, and operational projects throughout North America. WITRON is seeking a highly motivated, field-focused Safety Coordinator to support the construction, commissioning, and operational safety of automated warehouse and distribution facilities across the United States and internationally. This position is ideal for a safety professional with experience in construction safety, industrial safety, warehouse operations, material handling equipment (MHE), and distribution center environments who thrives in a fast-paced, travel-intensive role.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive safety leadership for construction, installation, commissioning, maintenance, and operational activities within automated distribution and warehouse facilities.
• Conduct field safety oversight for contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and WITRON personnel during construction and facility startup projects.
• Monitor project activities to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company policies, site-specific safety plans, and construction safety requirements.
• Develop, implement, and continuously improve safety programs, procedures, training initiatives, and risk mitigation strategies.
• Lead safety orientations, toolbox talks, hazard assessments, job safety analyses (JSAs), and safety training programs for site personnel.
• Investigate workplace incidents, near misses, injuries, property damage events, and safety concerns while driving corrective and preventive actions.
• Serve as the primary safety contact during regulatory inspections, audits, and critical incident response activities.
• Partner closely with the National Safety Manager, Site Managers, Project Managers, Maintenance Managers, and Operations Leadership to promote a strong safety culture.
• Conduct safety inspections, facility audits, contractor evaluations, and compliance reviews throughout active construction and operational environments.
• Train employees on forklift operations, powered industrial trucks, and other material handling equipment (MHE) while ensuring operator compliance and equipment safety.
• Inspect and monitor fall protection systems, lockout/tagout procedures, machine guarding, electrical safety programs, and confined space practices.
• Perform workers' compensation reviews, loss prevention assessments, and safety performance evaluations.
• Analyze safety metrics, leading indicators, incident trends, and compliance data to generate detailed reports and recommendations for leadership.
• Support safety planning and execution during large-scale automated distribution center installations, retrofits, expansions, and maintenance projects.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, Construction Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience will be considered.
• Experience managing safety programs within construction, industrial, manufacturing, distribution center, warehouse, logistics, or automated material handling environments.
• Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, accident prevention techniques, and risk management practices.
• Experience supporting contractor safety management and multi-employer construction sites.
• Knowledge of forklifts, automated material handling systems, conveyors, robotics, and other warehouse equipment preferred.
• Experience conducting safety inspections, incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action management.
• Excellent communication, leadership, training, and relationship-building skills.
• Strong organizational, analytical, and technical reporting capabilities.
• Ability to work independently while supporting multiple project locations and stakeholders.

Travel Requirements

This is a high-travel field safety position supporting construction and operational projects across North America and internationally.

• Approximately 75% to 90% travel is required.
• Travel assignments may extend for up to three consecutive weeks on-site, followed by approximately one week at home between assignments, depending on project needs.
• Must be willing and able to travel throughout the United States, Canada, and other international locations.
• Flexibility to support project startups, construction milestones, customer schedules, and emergency response situations is essential.
