Job summary

First Resources Corp. is seeking a full-time Health and Safety Assistant to support residential services in Burlington or Fairfield, IA.

You will help maintain a safe, healthy, and compliant environment for staff and individuals, and assist with staff training at site locations. The role requires travel between Burlington and Fairfield, a minimum of two years HCBS/ DIA experience preferred, and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Human Services or related field preferred.
• Two years of HCBS program experience and knowledge of DIA requirements for Adult Day Care.
• Basic computer skills and computer-based programs.
• Prior medical or nursing experience preferred.
• Ability to lift a minimum of 40 pounds.
• Complete medication administration training and pass medications.
• CPR/First Aid Certification within 30 days of employment and maintain it.
• Valid driver's license and insurance as required by Iowa law.

Responsibilities

• Maintain communication with Area Coordinator and Supervisors about client care and site condition.
• Provide clerical and training support to the residential department.
• Advocate for individual rights and meet health, safety, and welfare needs.
• Complete documentation within 24 hours (medication sheets, seizure logs, incident reports, shift checklists).
• Attend medical, psychiatric, and dental appointments with individuals and provide transportation.
• Facilitate ordering of medications/refills and ensure supplies are stocked.
• Assist individuals in ADLs, personal hygiene, laundry, housekeeping, and recreation.
• Participate in safety programs, including emergency evacuation procedures.
• Fill in hours as needed; travel at least 25% of the time; occasional evenings/weekends.
