Job summary

Principal People is recruiting a Health and Safety Advisor to support major water utilities projects across the Thames Water region. The role is hybrid with regular travel and a focus on influencing on-site behaviours and promoting a strong safety culture.

The successful candidate will assist the Health and Safety Manager, ensure compliance with legislation and management systems, and drive continuous improvement across project delivery within a well-established contractor network.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH Construction or General Certificate at a minimum.
• Experience in construction, infrastructure, utilities or water sectors.
• Strong understanding of HS&E legislation, management systems and risk.
• Confident communicator able to engage operational teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of the HS&E strategy across the framework.
• Provide practical HS&E advice to site teams and operations.
• Review RAMS, Construction Phase Plans and project documentation.
• Conduct site inspections, HS&E reviews and environmental audits.
• Support ISO 14001 compliance and environmental performance.
• Investigate incidents, identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
• Monitor HS&E KPIs and support continuous improvement.
• Deliver HS&E briefings, training and best practice guidance.
• Assist in supplier on-boarding and ongoing HS&E monitoring.
• Build strong relationships with clients, contractors and stakeholders.
