Job summary

WHOOP is hiring a Software Engineering Manager to lead the Health Records engineering team responsible for building a secure, scalable platform that ingests and utilizes clinical health data. This role drives how WHOOP integrates with external healthcare ecosystems to turn health records into insights for personalized member experiences.

As Engineering Manager III, you will balance technical leadership with people management, partnering with Product, Design, Data Science, Security, and Platform

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and operating large-scale backend systems.
• 3+ years leading engineering teams, hiring and coaching.
• Ability to define technical strategy and drive cross-functional initiatives.
• Strong understanding of backend architecture, cloud, APIs.
• Experience with secure systems handling sensitive data; healthcare data preferred.
• Proven ability to align technical work with business outcomes.
• Excellent communication and leadership across org.

Responsibilities

• Lead and grow a team of software engineers with a culture of excellence.
• Define technical strategy for Health Records platform.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data Science, and other teams.
• Guide architecture for ingesting and processing health record data.
• Establish practices around design, security, privacy, and compliance.
• Drive planning and cross-team collaboration balancing long-term and product work.
• Coach engineers and leaders, guiding career development and hiring.
