Compensation Grade: P23
Compensation Details: Minimum: $90,320.00 - Maximum: $90,320.00 Annually
Positions with a designated work location in New York City, Nassau, Rockland, Suffolk, or Westchester Counties will receive a $4,000 annual downstate adjustment (pro-rated for part-time positions).

Job Description

Health Research, Inc. is seeking a Health Program Coordinator I to work within the New York State Cancer Registry (NYSCR), Bureau of Cancer Epidemiology, New York State Department of Health. This role is responsible for ensuring the completeness, timeliness, and accuracy of statewide cancer registry data. The Health Program Coordinator I will provide oversight for the case processing workflow, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including field representatives, case processing supervisors, quality control specialists, research scientists, and IT specialists, to optimize data collection, resolve reporting bottlenecks, and standardize communication with reporting facilities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of experience in program coordination in a public health, health, health regulatory, or human services related program;
  • OR an associate’s degree in a related field and five years of such experience;
  • OR seven years of such experience.
  • At least one year of experience must have included supervision of staff and/or program management.
  • A master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification as an Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C)
  • Experience working in a central cancer registry
  • Proficiency in SEER*DMS
  • Master’s degree in a related field
  • Experience and proficiency with spreadsheets and databases using software applications such as Excel, Access or similar
  • Understanding of relational databases and familiarity with writing SQL queries to interpret and summarize data
  • Experience developing professional reports and delivering formal presentations
Conditions of Employment
  • Grant funded position.
  • Compliance with funding requirements such as time and effort reporting, grant deliverables, and contract deliverables, is required.
  • Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.

Work Location Expectations
  • At HRI, the nature of hybrid and onsite work varies by position. Some roles require full onsite presence, while others allow a hybrid schedule.
  • Managers determine the specific telecommuting expectations for each role based on operational needs and job responsibilities.
  • If designated as hybrid, you will divide your time between working remotely and reporting onsite.
