Job summary

Whitehall City School District seeks a Long Term Substitute Teacher - Health Lab Coordinator at Beechwood Elementary in Columbus, OH. The role supports the Health Lab to teach stress management, SEL, and resiliency using trauma-informed practices.

The coordinator will teach SEL, de-escalation, and safety strategies, develop student Success Plans, collaborate with MTSS, and maintain records while communicating with families to foster student growth.

Qualifications

• Valid Ohio Certification/Licensure.
• Bachelor's degree.
• Three or more years of successful teaching or related professional experience.
• Demonstrated leadership, communication, and observation skills.
• Ability to implement evidence-based health, SEL, and trauma-informed practices.
• Training and demonstrated competency in de-escalation and safety strategies.
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find reasonable and appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Teach and integrate SEL skills into instruction, including self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationships, and responsible decisions.
• Adapt curriculum to provide individualized, small-group, or remedial instruction.
• Develop standards for critical thinking and wellness decision-making.
• Select, maintain, and manage instructional materials and resources.
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior for a safe environment.
• Provide SEL-based support and develop individual Success Plans.
• Collaborate with MTSS and other school teams to coordinate interventions.
• Assist staff in implementing strategies that promote regulation and resilience.
• Provide social-emotional support and guide student participation in activities.
• Communicate with parents/guardians and maintain confidentiality of records.
• Participate in curriculum development and professional learning.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the principal.
