Job summary

Sacramento Native American Health Center, Inc. is seeking a Health Information Technician to manage medical, dental, and behavioral health records, ensuring accuracy and accessibility for authorized entities in compliance with HIPAA and related regulations.

The HIT will scan and index documents in NextGen, collect records from providers, coordinate releases of PHI, and support routine record requests while maintaining confidentiality and data integrity.

Qualifications

• Customer service background.
• Excellent computer skills, including Windows and MS Office.
• Excellent telephone and communication skills.
• Must possess excellent organizational, writing, and verbal skills.
• Ability to type 30 wpm and data-entry experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage patient health records for medical, dental, and behavioral health in accordance with policy and regulatory requirements.
• Scan and index documents into the NextGen Document Management system promptly and accurately.
• Collect patient health records from care providers and other departments.
• Coordinate and respond to requests for patient information from authorized parties and release PHI per law.
