Job summary

Spencer Hospital is seeking a Health Information Supervisor to lead the Health Information Department in Spencer, IA. You will oversee staffing, budgets, regulatory compliance, and physician documentation issues to ensure timely, accurate medical records and financial integrity.

Requirements include a Bachelor of Science in a related field and RHIA/RHIT certification or willingness to obtain, with 3–5 years HIM/Coding and supervisory experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in related field or equivalent experience.
• RHIA certification or RHIT from the American Health Information Management Association required or willing to obtain upon hire.
• Minimum 3-5 years HIM / Coding experience.
• Supervisory or leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Provides leadership to the Health Information Department of Spencer Hospital.
• Develops and monitors indicators for staffing, productivity, quality, fiscal accountability, budget and continuous improvement.
• Manages department operations including HR, budget, planning, compliance, and professional/technical expertise.
• Interacts with physicians on documentation and record completion issues.
• Responsible for maintaining unbilled accounts receivable within established standards.
• Oversees legal issues involving medical records and court appearances.
• Oversees credentialing and privileging of medical staff and allied health professionals.
• Works with medical staff on bylaws revisions.
• Leads and coordinates patient accounting and HIM collaboration.
