Job summary

Munson Healthcare in Manistee, MI is seeking a records technician who, under supervision, assembles and analyzes inpatient and outpatient charts to ensure all records are complete and accurate. You will receive records from admitting and nursing stations and organize them per procedure.

Duties include checking for missing information such as diagnoses and signatures, returning incomplete records for corrections, sending requested information to insurers and other providers, and performing

Qualifications

• Level of knowledge equivalent to that ordinarily acquired through completion of high school (including course work in typing).
• Analytical ability necessary to interpret data contained in records.
• Interpersonal skills necessary to communicate with all Hospital associates and physicians.
• Visual acuity necessary to regularly read and decipher handwriting.
• Ability to determine to whom medical record information may be released.
• Ability to perform minimal typing.

Responsibilities

• Assembles and analyzes inpatient/outpatient charts for completeness and accuracy.
• Receives records from admitting and nursing stations and organizes them per procedure.
• Inspects records for deficiencies and returns incomplete records for addition of omitted information.
• Copies and sends requested medical record information to insurers, attorneys, other physicians and hospitals.
• Performs routine typing, indexing and filing and supports other departments as needed.
• Participates in safety inservice attendance and adheres to policies and HIPAA compliance.
