Munson Healthcare is hiring a Senior Health Information Clerk to manage the life cycle of legal medical records after discharge at our Traverse City, MI site.

Responsibilities include chart preparation, scanning, indexing, and quality analysis to ensure completeness and regulatory conformity. Experience with healthcare clerical tasks and required certifications will be supported by campus training and benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• 1 year of clerical experience in healthcare preferred.
• Within 6 months of HIM employment, completion of basic Medical Terminology and customer relations education will be required.
• Vaccination or immunity for Measles, Mumps, Rubella and Varicella is required.

Responsabilités

• Manage the lifecycle of the legal medical record after patient discharge.
• Perform retrospective record analysis for completeness and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with birth and death certificate processing (birth certificates where applicable).
• Coordinate retrieval of medical records from storage.
• Answer and direct telephone calls in a polite, informative manner.
• Participate in quality improvement activities as requested.
• Cross-train to assist with workloads and training of new staff.
