Job summary

The Charleston Area Medical Center is seeking a Medical Scribe to accurately document patient encounters in the electronic health record (EHR) or by handwritten record. Scribes are not permitted to make independent decisions or translations while entering information into the medical record.

You will assist physicians by navigating the EHR, locating prior notes and test results, and entering information as directed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• Experience in medical office, clinical, or hospital setting preferred.
• Medical transcription experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist the physician in navigating the EHR.
• Respond to messages as directed by the physician.
• Locate information for review (notes, reports, test results).
• Enter information into the medical record as directed by the physician.
• Research information as requested by the physician.
• Record handwritten information using approved procedures when necessary.
• Set up templates for clinicians and assist new staff with Dragon and Cerner.
• Troubleshoot issues with Desktop Support.
• Order tests or services as directed by the physician.
