Job summary

The North Carolina Community Health Center Association is seeking a Health Information Clerk & Patient Service Representative to ensure accurate medical records management and friendly front-desk support at our Greensboro site.

You will index and file electronic records, handle release of information requests, verify patient information, collect payments, schedule appointments, and assist patients through registration, check-in, and check-out, while upholding HIPAA and customer service

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; medical or general office experience preferred.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
• Working knowledge of billing codes and data processing equipment is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to multitask and stay organized.

Responsibilities

• Index and file scanned documents into the patient’s EHR.
• Monitor and process medical record tasks and scanner/filer queue.
• Process release of information requests in HIPAA-compliant manner.
• Verify patient identity and authorize record releases.
• Greet, register and check-in/out patients and collect co-pays.
• Maintain logs for medical records transfer and release of information.
• Provide backup support to other sites as needed.
