Job Description: Health Information Operations Supervisor

Role Overview

The Health Information Operations Supervisor is responsible for client/customer service, serving as a knowledge expert for the HIS staff. This role focuses on frontline people management, training, and ensuring process compliance. It may also involve assisting leadership with planning, developing, and implementing departmental or regional projects. The supervisor supports the Health Information Operations Manager, maintains workflow and productivity, handles escalated situations, and fosters a positive work environment. Additionally, the role includes assisting in the hiring process, engaging with clients, and staff development across multiple sites.

This is an onsite role located in Norfolk, VA.

Responsibilities
  1. Lead, train, and motivate a growing team.
  2. Collaborate with leadership on operational issues and opportunities.
  3. Manage the Audit Team handling requests from payors.
  4. Review data and provide solutions to clients and leadership.
  5. Introduce process improvements and provide feedback to stakeholders.
  6. Manage requests from the Risk Management Team.
  7. Plan for fluctuating client needs and lead client locations.
  8. Oversee escalation calls from centralized call centers.
  9. Participate in projects and committees to advance operational strategies.
  10. Coordinate with management on complex issues and build strong relationships.
Qualifications
  • Leadership philosophy centered on service.
  • Ability to support clients and team both onsite and remotely.
  • 1-2 years of health information experience.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA standards.
  • Strong presentation skills via video or in person.
  • Solution-oriented and forward-thinking mindset.
  • Attention to detail and quality in medical record information.
  • Proficiency in Power BI and MS Office.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with EMRs like EPIC or Cerner.
  • Background in production or metrics-based work.
  • Experience in team building and career development.
