Job summary

Highland Springs, part of Lifepoint Health, seeks a Health Information Management Clerk to manage access to protected health information and respond to medical information requests in line with hospital policy and HIPAA. The position involves chart preparation, scanning, routing calls, and ensuring timely, accurate handling of confidential records, with attention to productivity standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum education: high school diploma or equivalent.
• HIPAA standards must be maintained at all times.
• Ability to respond to requests for patient information.

Responsibilities

• Ensure EMS reports are attached to ER charts in a timely manner.
• Assist customers at the department window in a timely and courteous manner.
• Prep charts for scanning according to productivity standards.
• Scan medical records according to daily productivity standards.
• Perform quality control checks on scanned reports and maintain HIPAA standards.
• Receive and route calls to the department.
• Log records in designated log book and shredded records.
• Review patient requests for Patient Portal access.
