UP Health System - Portage is seeking a Health Information Management Clerk to ensure timely EMS report attachments, assist customers at the window, and prepare/scan records with accuracy. You will maintain HIPAA standards, route calls, and support patient portal requests in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or Equivalent Required
• Requires critical thinking and decisive judgment with minimal supervision
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Computer skills and knowledge of software
• Familiarity with organization of hospital departments
• Ability to problem-solve and handle stress positively
• Maintain harmonious relationships with nursing staff and departments
• Speech, hearing, and visual acuity necessary
• Work involves mental alertness

Responsibilities

• Ensures Emergency Room charts have EMS reports attached timely
• Assists customers at the window promptly and courteously
• Preps charts for scanning according to productivity standards
• Scans medical records per daily productivity standards
• Performs quality checks on previously scanned reports
• Maintains HIPAA standards at all times
• Receives and routes calls to the department
• Analyzes assigned records when time permits
• Logs shredded records in designated log book
• Reviews patient requests for Patient Portal access
