Job summary

Marin Community Clinics is seeking an HIMS Technician to manage electronic and paper medical records, ensuring HIPAA compliance and timely record availability across our clinics. You will process ROIs, safeguard patient privacy, and coordinate with clinical staff to maintain accurate, complete charts.

The role requires data entry precision, MS Office proficiency, and experience with EPIC and HIMS systems. Excellent teamwork, independent work capability, and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Healthcare office experience preferred.
• Experience with Electronic Health Records (EPIC) preferred.
• Experience with Health Information Management Systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Process ROI authorizations for all sites.
• Protect patient privacy per HIPAA and policies.
• Upload batches to Solarity scanning.
• Assist clinical staff with record completion and retrieval.
• Respond to information requests in compliance with policy.
• Ensure only appropriate information is shared externally.
• Liaise with vendors under BAAs and MCC agreements.
• Retrieve and route paper and electronic faxes.
• Collaborate with other departments on records tasks.
• Scan documents into patient charts accurately.
• Locate and extract pertinent information from records.
• Merge duplicate patient records.
• Handle inbox tasks from nurses, MAs, and physicians.
• Take HIMS-related calls and assist callers.
• Support pre-visit preparation by printing records.
• Contribute to team and complete assigned projects.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
